What are response rate and response time and how are they calculated?

Your response rate and response time measure how quickly and consistently you respond to messages and booking requests.

You can find your response rate and rate on your listing on thisopenspace:

  1. Go to your My Listings
  2. Click your listing photo
  3. Click The Host from the top of the listing page

It’s important to focus on your response rate and time which impacts your search placement. Your response time also gives guests an idea of how quickly they will hear from you.

Response rate

Your response rate is the percentage of new messages and booking requests you responded to (by either sending a message, accepting, sending an offer, or declining) within 24 hours.

If a guest sends you a message—a question, or any kind of message other than a booking request—via Ask a Question, you’ll need to respond to the message within 24 hours to maintain your response rate. If the guest sends you a booking request, you’ll need to accept or decline within 24 hours to maintain your response rate.

Improving response rate

To improve response rate and response time, do the following as soon as you can within 24 hours of receiving a message or booking request:

  • Accept or decline booking requests
  • Send an offer or decline requests
  • Reply to new messages from guests

Responses after 24 hours count as a late response, which will decrease your response rate and increase your response time. Your response rate and time impact your position in search results.

Your response rate isn't affected by follow-up messages between hosts and guests. You don't have to send the final message in a conversation to maintain your response rate.

Response time

Your response time is the average amount of time that it took for you to respond to all new messages.
