When am I charged for a booking?
Once the host accepts your request, or if you accept an offer, your payment method will be charged as soon as your booking is confirmed (except any security deposits).
If your check-in date is more than a month away, we hold the payment for 28 days before giving it to the host.
If your check-in date is less than a month away, we hold the payment until 7 days prior to your check-in date before giving it to the host. This gives both you and your host some added time to make sure that everything is as expected.
To check how much you've been charged for upcoming or past bookings after your receipt is issued:
- Go to My Bookings
- Click Message History to select the booking you want to check. If you can't find your booking make sure to check both the Upcoming or Past tab.
- From your Message History click View invoice on the top right corner. This will open a new tab.
- If you need a printed invoice click Print Invoice on the new tab
If a thisopenspace security deposit applies and your booking is confirmed, a charge for the deposit amount will be placed on your payment method 7 days before your check-in date. Your booking will be subject to cancellation if we're unable to place a charge for the deposit amount on your payment method, so it’s important to make sure your payment method is valid and has sufficient funds. If it turns out we can’t charge the security deposit amount, you’ll be notified by email and will have 12 hours to try another payment method. If that doesn’t work out, we’ll cancel your booking and you’ll be refunded. As long as the host has not placed a claim on your security deposit for additional charges, we’ll refund the security deposit on your card after you check-out. That will happen up to 72 hours after check-out.
