When you're confirming a new booking, you'll always be shown the associated security deposit as a separate amount. You're charged the full amount a week before your booking occurs. That money is held for 72 hours after the booking. Should there be no damages/ overtime fees associated with the booking, the charge is automatically refunded after the 72 hours. If the deposit is held after the booking, you will always be notified, and given the reason(s) about why it's being held.
